Required fields: KB record

You must complete the following fields when you add a new KB record.

QuestionPoint automatically copies the available information for these fields when you add a KB record from a question list or a Full Question.

You can modify the content of many of these fields if you edit an inactive record after it is added to a KB or you update an active record.

Field Description
Question Text of the question

(The content of this field can be modified when an inactive record is edited or an active record is updated.)

Requesting Institution Library that received the question from the patron

(This field is diplayed when a record is edited or updated but not when a record is added. The content of this field cannot be modified.)

Source of Request Method by which the record was added:
  • Manual (someone added it)
  • Automatic (someone closed a question answered by the Global Reference Network)
  • Batchload (a batch process added it as part of an imported set of records from a non-QuestionPoint KB)

Education Level Education level of the answer; selected from these options:
  • Adult/Life Long Learner (default)
  • Primary/Elementary
  • Secondary
  • Undergraduate/VoTech
  • Masters/Ph.D

Answer Text of the answer

Responding Institution Library that answered the question

(The content of this field cannot be modified when an inactive record is edited or an active record is updated.)

Editor Notes Brief description of changes made when a record is edited or updated. Editor Notes are required when an active record is updated and optional when an inactive record is edited.

QuestionPoint automatically adds the date and time to Editor Notes and lists the fields in an active record that an editor changed.

When the record is saved, QuestionPoint moves the notes to the Previous Editor Notes area. A link is provided for viewing previous notes in a separate window.

(The Editor Notes field is available when a record is edited or updated but not when a new record is added.)

Add to
(Knowledge Base Status)
Boxes and buttons used to specify the:
  • KB or KBs to which the record should be added
  • Status of the record in the KB
  • Availability of the record for public access

(This field is labeled "Knowledge Base Status" when an inactive record is edited or an active record is updated. The content of this field can be changed when an inactive record is edited. When an active record is updated, the status cannot be changed but other content can be.)
