Optional fields: KB record
To make the record easier to search, you have the option to complete any of the following fields when you add a new KB record.
QuestionPoint automatically copies any available information for these fields when you add a KB record from a question list or a Full Question. Questions that have been referred to the Global Reference Network contain information for several of these fields.
You can modify the content of many of these fields if you edit an inactive record or update an active record.

| Category | Category that you assign to the KB record; select one of these
options in the drop-down list:

| Keywords | Keywords or phrases that describe the question or answer; the
recommended order of entry is most important first; individual keywords
or phrases are separated with commas (,). QuestionPoint does not
require the use of any specific controlled vocabulary.
(This field is diplayed once when a record is added and twice when a record is edited or updated. When a record is edited or updated, the first occurrence relates to the question, the second relates to the answer. Both fields can be modified when an inactive record is edited or an active record is updated.) |
| Date Requested | Date on which the question was submitted by the patron; enter
the date in mm/dd/yyyy format

| Subject | General subject area of the question; select it in the drop-down
list of subject areas based on the Library of Congress Classification.

| Subject Broad Class | Specific subject area of the question, within the selected general
subject area; select it in the drop-down list of subject areas based

| Geographic Code | Geographic location that is a subject of the question; select

contain information used in the answer; individual sources are separated

| Required Update Date | Future date on which the record should be examined by a KB
editor because it contains time-sensitive information; enter the

| Answer Date | Date on which the answer was sent to the patron; enter the date
in mm/dd/yyyy format

| Editor Notes | Brief description of changes made when a record is edited
or updated. Editor Notes are required when an active record is updated
and optional when an inactive record is edited.
QuestionPoint automatically adds the date and time to Editor Notes and lists the fields in an active record that an editor changed. When the record is saved, QuestionPoint moves the notes to the Previous Editor Notes area. A link is provided for viewing previous notes in a separate window. (The Editor Notes field is available when a record is edited or updated but not when a new record is added.) |
