How do we set
up our local KB?
For a subscription group and
its libraries
To set up the local KB for a subscription group:
- The group administrator specifies
a short name for the group, which also serves as the name of the
local KB. (Administration > Subscription Group > Settings > Branding)
- The group administrator selects an approval method for the
profiles of libraries in the group. (Administration > Subscription
Group > Settings > Activation Setup)
- The group administrator assigns KB privileges to each library
in the group (Administration > Subscription Group > Accounts > List
All Institutions). The available privileges are:
- View
KB, the library may search the KB but not add, edit/activate,
or remove KB records
- Add/Submit, the library may search
the KB and add KB records but not edit/activate or remove
records
- Edit KB, the library may search the KB and
add and edit/activate KB records but not remove records
- Edit/Delete KB, the library may
search the KB and add, edit/activate, and remove records
- Institution administrators in the group submit their libraries' QuestionPoint profiles
to the group. (Profile > Institution Services and Collection
Strengths)
- The group administrator activates the submitted profiles for
group activities. (Profile > Administration)
- Institution administrators in the group assign KB privileges
to each of their librarians, based on the privileges assigned to
their libraries in step 3. (Administration > Institution > Accounts > View/Update
Accounts)
For a library that is not part
of a subscription group
To set up the local KB for a library that is a QuestionPoint
full subscriber but does not participate in a subscription group:
- The institution administrator
specifies a short name, which serves as the name of the local KB.
(Administration > Subscription Group > Settings > Branding)
- The institution administrator activates the library's
profile for local activities. (Profile > Institution Services)
- The institution administrator assigns KB privileges for the
local KB to each librarian (Administration > Institution > Accounts > View/Update
Accounts). The available privileges are:
- View
KB, the librarian may search the local KB but not add,
edit/activate, or remove KB records
- Add/Submit, the librarian may search
the local KB and add KB records but not edit/activate or
remove records
- Edit KB, the librarian may search the local
KB and add and edit/activate KB records but not remove
records
- Edit/Delete KB, the librarian may
search the local KB and add, edit/activate, and remove
records
