Should I use Flash chat or Standard (HTML) chat?

All of your library's librarians who monitor chat should use the same chat method: Flash chat or Standard (HTML) chat. Ask your library's QuestionPoint administrator if you do not know which method to use.

If librarians from your library use different methods, they may not see each other listed in the chat monitor and they may not see all of the patron chat requests that they should. Also they will not be able to IM with, or transfer sessions to, each other.

Your library must use Flash chat if it monitors chat requests for the 24/7 Reference Cooperative or for your library and other libraries in your library's chat queues.

Your library may use Standard (HTML) chat if it monitors chat requests only for itself. Your library must use Standard (HTML) chat if it monitors chat requests for a voluntary Cooperative Group (not the 24/7 Reference Cooperative).
